Sobriety & Wellbeing.

“I’m in such a better place than I was, it’s hard to explain how all the little things you’ve encouraged have made a huge impact on my day to day life and outlook in general. I feel hopeful for the first time in a long time, so thank you from the bottom of my heart, you are a truly amazing person and I’m so grateful I was able to connect with you.”

We can have a tendency to put others first, but in doing so; we can neglect our relationship with ourselves.

In this fast paced life we can start to feel a bit lost, we can start to engage in behavior that doesn’t feel like us, we can start to rely upon alcohol to cope with the challenges of life.

Maybe you identify as a grey area drinker?

I did. Somewhere inbetween a take it or leave it, glass of wine at a wedding drinker, and a dependent drinking, struggling with withdrawal and to manage your life drinker? You binge maybe? It’s never just one glass? You are anxious and/or depressed, depressed/overwhelmed, but drinking to cope?

Do you use alcohol as your off switch?

Maybe you can identify when there was a shift in your drinking due to trauma/lifestyle upheaval/motherhood. Maybe you just don’t know why, but you are sober curious… Maybe you have been to the doctor with concerns and been told to count your units? You have been trying to moderate?

Does moderation feel like a mountain you keep trying to stay on top of?

Sometimes you can, sometimes you can’t? Are you making and breaking your morning promise not to drink when the wine-witch comes calling at 5pm? Do you sometimes blackout? Do you feel shame and low-self-worth because of your drinking? If you are nodding and answering yes sometimes here, I get it, that was me too.

Alcohol can become our companion… At first a friend and then a toxic relationship you want rid of but you don’t know how…

That is where our work together begins, it begins with you being heard.

Maybe you manage periods of sobriety, or are sober right now, but life is still a challenge. You got sober by willpower and grit, but those strategies for long-term happiness, well-being and creating a life you love sober, they need work?

I am fascinated about stories and we all have a story to tell, maybe you don’t think your story is important, but it matters.

“There isn’t much about sobriety that Mandy doesn’t know. Starting the SGS community quite early into my alcohol-free journey meant I didn’t always have the knowledge to answer some of the trickier questions I was asked by our followers and luckily Mandy was always there to guide me through them.

She’s been a great source of strength to me in my own sobriety journey and her approach is always loving and caring but most importantly, badass. She is the coach you need to motivate you and tell you that it’s all going to be okay.”

Client Testimonial - CM, USA

What did you enjoy or appreciate most about my approach?

The kindness, humor, warmth and the unconditional positive regard were so valuable in reducing the shame I felt and made me feel so safe to be honest. I very much appreciate your straightforward, practical approach and the utmost dedication you give.

I also love that you are so real, no bullshit, just you sharing the parts of your experience that could help me. You go above and beyond offering daily check-ins, helping to access resources, connecting me to other sober people.

Even as I’ve struggled, you’ve never given up your hope for me and that has helped me to keep mine.

What have your biggest shifts been?

Believing that I can have a good life as a sober person and that it is actually a better life

What was the most helpful piece/take away you received from one-on-one coaching?

What I will take away with me is that life is better sober and that I am fully capable of having a life I love.

I would recommend your services to anyone struggling with their relationship with alcohol, your approach is so person centred, not a one size fits all but completely tailored to the individual.

What did I most enjoy/appreciate about your approach?

I like the fact that you never told me to do anything, instead suggesting ideas for me to try if it felt right. You didn’t try to push your own recovery tools onto me, other times I’ve tried to reach out I’ve been told “do this” or “you’re not doing it right/trying hard enough” and this would make me feel like a failure before I’d even started. I appreciated how up front you were about there being no shame and so even when I slipped up I felt I could tell you without being judged. Daily contact via email was very helpful to be accountable and I appreciated that during our weekly call you were able to remember what I’d emailed about.

My biggest shifts?

Realising that I am a whole person, even with my past and daily struggles, I still have interests and taking time out for these is valid, not selfish. I feel that I can find a purpose in my life, something I haven’t felt for a very long time.

My most helpful takeaway?

Doing small things daily can make a big difference, my journey doesn’t have to be linear and I should congratulate myself on my successes.
